How to Take Action

Type in your zip code into the form below to identify your state representative and send a message urging them to reject the proposed Taylorville Energy Center.

Why It’s Important to Take Action

The proposed Taylorville Energy Center coal plant that out-of-state energy company Tenaska wants to build would burden Illinois electricity consumers with huge new, unnecessary costs at a time when we can least afford it. Legislation being considered in the Illinois House of Representatives would lock Illinois consumers into a 30-year contract that would total $12 billion in increased electricity costs to build and purchase power from the Taylorville Energy Center.

By forcing Illinois consumers to pay nine times competitive market prices for electricity, this legislation would make it harder for families to make ends meet, employers to create jobs, and government and public agencies to provide the services we rely on.

Let your concerns be heard. Tell your state representative to OPPOSE the Taylorville Energy Center.
